BORCAD was founded in 1990 by Ivan Boruta as a small design and development studio. Today we are a company with our own development team and a strong production background. We manufacture seats for trains and emphasize travel comfort, innovative design solutions and open communication with our business partners. This is our added value and DNA given by our founder and long-time owner. In 2022, the company was acquired by new owners, which are the private equity funds Genesis Capital (Czech Republic) and Integral Venture Partners (Hungary). However, our goal remains the same – to produce quality products that are liked and that make the journey of thousands of railway passengers more pleasant!

We are developing and producing our passenger train seats at the foothills of Beskydy Mountains. Our staff count is 205 and owing to our unique design and original structural solutions we are among the most innovative companies in the industry. We are flexible and we all share a single goal – a satisfied customer.

After 32 years, Ivan Boruta is selling the BORCAD company. Our new owners are private equity funds Genesis Capital and Integral Venture Partners.

We are celebrating our 30th birthday! For three decades we have been developing and producing timeless products with an exceptional design, which make train travel more pleasant for thousands of passengers all around the world. Where will the tracks take us further?

We are launching two new key products. Visio seat for regional transport and Flexio seat designed for long-distance connections, especially for high-speed trains. Visio seat is quickly finding its place on the market and in 2020 we havr over twenty completed projects.

After 25 years, we say goodbye to the medical technology division, which is being bought by Linet Group under the name Borcad Medical. In last 25 years, we have launched several exceptional innovations in the field of birthing beds and gynaecological chairs, and we continue to use the acquired know-how (especially safety and electrical) in the VIP train seat segment. From now on, Borcad will focus only on seats for rail transport.

Building time again. This time we are constructing new assembly halls to fit our increasing production demand. In the new halls we can produce up to 70 000 seats a year.

New products, gynaecological workplace Gracie and long-distance rail seat Comfort have won the Red Dot Design awards in recent years. In the fields of rail vehicles, the company cooperates steadily with the Škoda Group and the Swiss company Stadler. In 2014, we receive a groundbreaking order from Siemens for 200 Desiro ML trains for the Austrian Federal Railways ÖBB. Genio seat becomes a bestseller.

We are delivering seats to Russian operator Aeroexpress and thus entering the ex-Soviet Union market. All passengers travelling between all Moscow’s airports and the city centre are riding on our new Regio+ seats.

Company expands and turnover is growing. For the second time we are increasing our production capacity – now by 100%.

In November, the new Bond film Casino Royale premieres in Czech cinemas. Our Comfort seats, on which James Bond sits in the scene when he takes the train to Black Mountain, also shone on the silver screen. We recommend enjoying the star-studded film with a good drink and please shake it, do not stir it. 🙂

Arrival of first high-speed train on Czech rails – SuperCity Pendolino is acquired by national operator Czech Railways. With our seats inside! This is a historical milestone among company’s projects which still keeps its honourable position in our references. We are really proud of it. With this project for Alstom, we are definitely entering the world of railways. We also continue to develop very successful products for healthcare.

In the years 2022 – 2024, we implemented a project called BORCAD cz – Installation of photovoltaic system without accumulation – 224,1 kWp, which was co-financed by the European Union.

In the years 2020 – 2022, we implemented a project called Product and process innovation of VISIO and FLEXIO railway seats, which was co-financed by the European Union.

In 2019, our project Design Concept and Software Design for the Transformation of Seat FLEXIO 450 mm 2nd Class to FLEXIO 500 mm 1st Class was part of the TechArt project, which was realized thanks to support from the subsidy program Business Support in the Moravian-Silesian Region 2019 – subsidy title 2 “TechArt” voucher.
